Count Our Blessings

An extraordinarily strong (for June) low pressure system is off the coast of California bringing unseasonal rains and snows to the area.

Fortunately, for the tornado-weary United States east of the Rockies, eastward movement of that low is being blocked by a strong high pressure center over the south central United States.

The low is forecast to weaken considerably before it is able to move east.

Had the low been able to move into the central and eastern U.S. at full strength, it almost certainly would have caused another major tornado outbreak.
